A great way to begin the trip. hours overnight. Lucas dropped us off at train station at about 7:30 - after breakfast at Klamath Grill.
Charlotte came to say goodbye and she took us home - almost thought the trip was over. We played 5 games of zilch, then back to the station at 10:45.
Amtrak finally arrived at 12:30. By 1pm we were on a charter bus, hoping to catch the east-bound Empire Builder in Pasco Washington. Drove up highway 97. Ate a delightful dinner from Subway in Biggs Junction at 6pm before continuing east to head off the target train.
Entered Washington state 7:20 pm. Arrived in Pasco 8pm. Train from Portland 40 minutes late. On train at 9:30. Took awhile to organize "stuff". Lights out about 10:30.
